When I found out that I was going to be photographing an up-and-coming running group in Baton Rouge, I was intrigued and excited. Because I am a runner. Kind of. All right, all right. I’m a bad runner – but still one – because I have issues with waking up and actually running the necessary amount of miles to prepare for my next race. However, I’m working at changing this. And I think it has something to do with finding a group of people – large or small – to hold me accountable to actually showing up and putting in the miles.
So when I reached out to Brandon Williams, the founder of Claim Your Journey, I was interested to hear what the group was all about, what they were promoting and who was attending.
I showed up early one Sunday for their weekly Sunday Runday event, and I was blown away with how many people were already there and the community that these runners are building. I enjoyed my time chatting with various runners who were there, and I was invited to come along for the run. Unfortunately, my Birkenstocks made this bit impossible, and I hung out at the tent, waiting to photograph the runners as they arrived back at Ivar’s.
Claim Your Journey is offering a fun way to end the weekend with Sunday Runday. Not only is it a lot of fun and a great opportunity to put yourself out there, but you can meet some new friends, as well as have a good time exercising with an eclectic group of runners of all sizes, speeds and ages.
