My name is Erin Parker Skinner. Pleased to meet you, and welcome to my blog!

As a child, I loathed carrying the camera around so much that I let one sink to the bottom of an icy lake one family vacation. As a teenager, I carried disposable cameras on trips to document anything and everything I felt necessary. As a young college student, I was indifferent.

I didn't become a photographer until I took a photo class by chance my sophomore year of college. From there, I dove into fine art photography - mostly portraiture - and then photojournalism. Since that fateful class that was meant to be a last hoorah in the art department, I have been chasing my love for photography and combining it with my love for people.

I am a freelance photojournalist. What does that mean? I shoot news and sports assignments that are sent my way by local and national media outlets. I document weddings on the weekends. I make a lot of portraits, too. I photograph mostly anything and everything in between these spectrums. And I love it all.

A snowy day in Nashville

I don’t know where you live.

I don’t know what your weather is like.

But ours? Well, ours has been a little crazy. It started snowing late last night, and it snowed into the morning. And when we woke up at 7 a.m., there were about four inches of snow blanketing the ground.

And while our teeth were chattering as we walked, our pup, Lucy, had the time of her life playing in the snow this morning.

Lys - I’ve probably said it a thousand times before, but your pup is the absolute cutest thing on this planet…especially with a purple jacket…please! I’m melting into a puddle of adorable!

admin - Thanks, Alyssa! And isn’t the coat awesome? My dad and his wife got it for Lucy for Christmas. I think the purple works well with her coat, haha.
